The roof clips or hold down clips are concealed in the seam of the panel. If the ssr is attached directly to open framing it is typically designed to expand and contract and must be allowed to float. That includes soldered metal roofing or synthetic membranes. Regular asphalt shingles and standard skylights will work at pitches of 4 12 or greater but at lower pitches you have to use different materials.

The panels have been designed for application over a wide variety of substrates on roof slopes as low as 1 2 12 pitch. Low slope metal roofs have simple geometries and are easier and less expensive to install that medium to steep slope roofs. By low slope roofing we mean any roof that is pitched at less than 4 inches of rise in 12 inches of run or 4 12 pitch. The prevalent rib geometries for low slope metal panel roofs include the trapezoidal or vertical rib profile.

Low slope roofs are not totally flat their roof slope generally ranges from 1 4 12 to 3 12. A lightweight roofing system also places fewer demands on a building s structural support system an important consideration in earthquake prone areas. Minimum metal roof slope depends on the roof profile building design climate and site location. Typically low slope metal roof systems vary in weight from 40 to 135 pounds per 100 square feet making them among the lightest roofing products and the easiest to install.
